x264box

July 29, 2009 (Visualbasic-script, Windows only)  XBMC Arcade Browser

Are you a video creator? Do you care about quality?

Then you probably know that x264 produces superior quality h.264 mpeg4. Superior to whatever you have. Superior to Adobe Media Encoder.

You also know that x264 is a command line biatch and requires a workflow with a 32 bit avisynth script, video piped to 64 bit x264, separately encoded AAC audio, command line MP4Box to mux them together, aaah!

This script is for you. Add a registry key and you can right-click encode your .avi or .avs to high-quality .mp4!

This script needs to be manually edited to point to the correct executables of required binaries!

Download x264box!

Required binaries:

Registry key for right-click (Windows 7):

  • HKCR\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\Shell\x264box\Command
  • HKCR\SystemFileAssociations\.avs\Shell\x264box\Command
  • @ = cscript.exe D:\Software\bin\x264box.vbs "%1"

Arcade Browser

April 15, 2009 (Python, Linux only)  XBMC Arcade Browser

This is a ROM browser plugin for XBMC Media Center. Launch your favorite emulators from within your media center!

There are some problems with the latest releases of XBMC, especially when run on Xubuntu. It runs fine if you use software from last year. :P

I might update this script if I find the time, because I still use it myself on an old Xubuntu machine and I might want to keep using it after an update.
